Cleaning textiles
Before you use the steam cleaner on textiles, you should always test that the material is resistant to steam by applying it to a part of the material that is normally concealed.
Apply plenty of steam to the surface and then leave it to dry. Check to see that the colour and shape have not been affected.
Cleaning coated or painted surfaces
Extreme care should be taken when using steam around glued surfaces & objects, otherwise the adhesive could become detached. To avoid damage to painted surfaces, such as, timber and parquetry always apply a cotton cleaning cloth to cleaning tools with nylon brushes.
The steam cleaner is not recommended on unsealed timber or parquetry floors.
On some surfaces if steam is applied for too long, wax, furniture polish, plastic coating or paint could be lifted off or marks could appear.
On painted walls it is recommended that the large floor tool and a double layer of cloth are used. This way the steam is diffused over a larger area, the cotton cloth forms a protective coating between the nylon bristles and the wall and soil is collected to the cloth.
Turn on steam and run the floor tool down the wall in a vertical motion. Take care that the cotton cloth remains on the base of the floor tool to avoid nylon bristles coming in contact with painted wall and scratching surface.
Use extreme caution in the beginning until you are confident with the volume of steam and length of cleaning time.
Cleaning glass surfaces
Thanks to the cleaning properties of steam windows and mirrors can be cleaned and degreased.
Fit the window tool direct to the steam wand (attach extension tubes if required) spray a small amount of steam to the glass surface tilt the wand and squeegee dry
Greasy and difficult to clean surfaces can be cleaned with the use of a cotton cloth and the hand or floor tool. Wipe over surface with steam and remove any excess moisture with the use of an additional cloth or glass squeegee.
Shower screens with heavy soap scum build up can be initially cleaned with the use of just the hand brush without the cotton cloth. Alternatively use the cotton cloth with a couple of drops of Eucalyptus oil. This is not necessary where regular cleaning takes place.
Windows and shower screens affected by scale build up can be lightly sprayed with cleaning vinegar in a spray bottle, left for 2-3 minutes prior to cleaning with steam.
Note: To avoid glass breakage, warm window or shower screen by applying a small amount of steam over the entire surface to even out temperature. This is particularly important during winter months.
Note: To avoid damage to window seals, do not apply steam jet directly to the sealed parts of windows.
